Sophy Naess’ solo show The Fairest of them All features paintings and works on paper which are conceived as props and backdrops for the human subject. Two large collages function as set the stage for a summer picnic and a beach scene. A collection of oil paintings blend portraiture and landscape into tropical camouflage masks.

The video installation On the Job depicts the artist at work in the studio, and the soundtrack of radio reportage and adverstisements situates her activities in time and place.

Sophy Naess received her BFA from Cooper Union in New York in 2004 and has been living and working in Gothenburg, Sweden, since 2006. Her work has been exhibited widely in New York and various venues in Sweden including Big Love, Galleri 54, and most recently at Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm.
