Sara Nilsson – Andetag i naturen

28.03 - 21.04 2024

We are excited to announce Sara Nilsson’s fifth solo exhibition at Galleri Thomassen. A central theme of her work during recent years, is the exploration of humanity’s relationship with nature. In her latest exhibition, titled “Andetag i naturen” she presents a series of artworks that showcase different characters and scenes depicting humanity’s journey towards rediscovering and reconnecting with nature.

On a rocky surface, sits an outdoor enthusiast dressed in a green functional overall. Beside her lies a stack of books reflecting a strong interest in nature. Nearby stands a tent, a windbreak with landscape motifs spreading across the canvas. Inside the tent lies a diary filled with notes on eatable plants and the day’s weather.

In the exhibition “Andetag i naturen” several similar scenes depict humanity’s attempts to reestablish a lost connection to nature. The works portray individuals who have ventured into the woods and fields, seeking connections driven by a longing for belonging.

Perhaps they belong to a group, engage in forest therapy, or are part of an environmental movement. In nature, they are enveloped in tranquility, and fresh air fills their lungs. In Sara Nilsson’s art, the relationship between humans and nature takes center stage.
