Galleri Thomassen is pleased to present the exhibition Möt mig i skuggorna (Meet me in the shadows) by Tilda Lovell. The exhibition consists of an installation where her public sculpture Oraklet has functioned as the starting point. Oraklet was commissioned by the city of Gothenburg in 2015. Möt mig i skuggorna is an installation made with the physical space of the gallery in mind. Lovell lets us descend into a cave like maritime world consisting of films, sounds, drawings and sculptures, all based on found fragments from different beaches and oceans in the world.

Recurring in Lovell’s work is the use of material collected from nature. She recycles it into sculptures and scenes, the process reflecting the forever circle of life and death. With a penchant for the dark and things hidden Lovell has attracted a lot of attention and become one of Sweden’s most important living artists.

Tilda Lovell (born 1972) studied sculpture at Hovedskous målarskola in Gothenburg and received an MFA from the Royal Academy of Art in Stockholm. She is represented by Galerie Forsblom in Stockholm (former Lars Bohman Gallery) since 2004. Lovell´s work has been shown at Bonniers Konsthall, Alma Löv, Eskilstuna konstmuseum, Borås skulpturbiennal, Turku Biennaale and Konstakademien in Stockholm. She is the recipient of numerous awards and grants including Maria Bonnier Dahlin, Ragnar von Holten, Bernadotte Art Awards and artists working grants. Her work is represented in multiple private and public collections, such as Borås konstmuseum, Göteborgs konstmuseum, Malmö konstmuseum and Statens konstråd.

TILDA LOVELL – MÖT MIG I SKUGGORNA

Galleri Thomassen har glädjen att presentera utställningen Möt mig i skuggorna av Tilda Lovell.
Med utgångspunkt i den mycket uppskattade offentliga skulpturen Oraklet som Tilda Lovell gjorde till Göteborg år 2015, visar hon nu installationen Möt mig i skuggorna som är speciellt skapad för rummet längst in och en trappa ner i galleri Thomassen. Tilda Lovell ger oss en möjlighet stiga ned i en grottliknande, maritim värld av filmer, ljud, teckningar och skulpturer baserade på upphittade fragment från stränder och hav på olika platser i världen.

Tilda Lovell arbetar i en rad olika material och tekniker som sträcker sig från animation till installation, teckning och skulptur. Hon samlar sitt material i naturen, och re-animerar död materia till nya skulpturer och scener som speglar den föränderliga existensen i livet och bortom. Med en förkärlek för mörker och människans allra djupaste vrår har Tilda Lovell snabbt blivit en av Sveriges viktiga konstnärer.

Hon finns representerad i ett flertal privata samlingar, samt i samlingarna på Borås konstmuseum, Göteborgs konstmuseum, Malmö konstmuseum och Statens konstråd.
